Effective date: 10 August 2026
Last updated: 26 August 2026
Applies to: the LockIn iOS app, its widgets and extensions, LockIn Pro, and the pages at
applockin.vercel.app.
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and HONGSIN AING ("LockIn", "we", "us",
"our"), based in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Our full registered details are available on request. These
Terms also serve as the end-user licence agreement for the app, replacing Apple's standard licensed
application EULA.
Please read Sections 6, 13, and 14 carefully. They describe what LockIn cannot do for you and limit what we owe you if something goes wrong.
1. Accepting these Terms
By downloading, installing, or using LockIn you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app — and if you have already installed it, delete it.
2. Who may use LockIn
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use LockIn only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
You must also be able to enter a binding contract and must not be barred from using the app under the laws that apply to you.
3. What LockIn does
LockIn is a productivity app for iPhone. It lets you:
- build launchers — grids of apps you open together for a particular kind of work;
- define focuses — named sessions that block a chosen set of apps for a chosen length of time, either on demand or on a schedule;
- run those sessions in Strict Mode, which deliberately makes quitting early difficult;
- review your session history, streaks, and badges;
- place widgets on your home screen and lock screen;
- receive optional reminders and a daily quote.
App blocking is implemented entirely through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity) frameworks. LockIn does not modify iOS, jailbreak your device, or install a profile.
4. Screen Time permission
Blocking requires you to grant Screen Time permission when iOS asks. Without it, LockIn still works as a launcher and session tracker, but it cannot block anything.
You can withdraw that permission at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time, and you can delete the app at any time. Doing either releases every block LockIn has applied, including a Strict Mode lock. You always retain ultimate control of your own device. Nothing in these Terms, and nothing in the app, changes that.
5. Your content
Everything you create in LockIn — launcher and focus names, notes, app selections, session history — belongs to you. It is stored on your device, and in your own iCloud account if you turn on iCloud Sync or iCloud backups. We claim no ownership of it and, other than the limited case in Section 10, we do not receive it.
You are responsible for keeping your own backups. Deleting the app deletes its local data irreversibly.
6. Strict Mode and the limits of blocking
Strict Mode is a commitment device. Once a strict session starts, ending it early requires you to write a reason, type an exact unlock phrase, and press and hold a button. Force-quitting, restarting, or reinstalling LockIn will not lift the lock before its timer ends.
You must understand and accept the following before enabling Strict Mode.
- You may be unable to open a blocked app when you want or need to. That is the entire point of the feature. Do not block anything you might need urgently. Do not block a phone, messaging, maps, banking, medical, accessibility, or safety app, or any app you rely on in an emergency.
- Blocking is not a safety mechanism and must never be relied on as one. Do not use LockIn where a failure to block, or a failure to unblock, could put anyone's health, safety, finances, or property at risk.
- Blocking is best-effort. It depends on iOS behaving as documented. Apple can change, restrict, or remove these frameworks at any time, and an iOS update, a system fault, a low-power condition, or a bug can cause a block to apply when it should not, or fail to apply when it should. We do not warrant that any block will engage, hold, or release correctly.
- Blocking can be circumvented. Deleting LockIn, revoking Screen Time permission, or using another device will bypass it. Strict Mode makes quitting inconvenient, not impossible, and it is not designed to restrain a determined user or to substitute for clinical treatment of a compulsion or addiction.
- LockIn is not medical, psychological, or professional advice. If you are struggling with compulsive device use, please talk to a qualified professional.
By enabling Strict Mode you accept that you may be locked out of blocked apps for the duration you chose, and you accept the consequences of that choice.
7. LockIn Pro
Some features require LockIn Pro. It is offered as a recurring subscription and, where available, as a one-time "Lifetime" purchase. Some plans include a free trial.
The plans on offer, their prices, and any trial length are the ones shown in the App Store and on the paywall inside the app at the moment you buy. Prices are charged in your local currency and may differ by region and over time. The price displayed by the App Store at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.
7.1 Billing
All purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never handle your payment details.
7.2 Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically. Your account is charged for the next period within 24 hours before the current period ends, unless you cancel first. To cancel, open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, select LockIn, and cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
7.3 Free trial
Where a free trial is offered, it is available once per Apple ID, for the length stated at the time of purchase. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription automatically at the price shown when you signed up. If you buy a subscription during a trial, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited, as Apple's rules require.
7.4 Lifetime
"Lifetime" means a one-time payment granting Pro for as long as LockIn is published and operable on your device. It is not a promise that the app, any individual feature, or any dependent third-party service will exist forever. If we discontinue LockIn entirely, Section 16 applies.
7.5 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies, not by us. Request one at
https://reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no ability to issue, reverse, or expedite an App Store
refund. Where consumer protection law in your country gives you a statutory refund or withdrawal
right, that right stands regardless of anything in this section.
7.6 Price and plan changes
We may change prices, introduce plans, or retire them. A price change to an existing subscription takes effect only at the next renewal, and only after Apple has notified you and, where Apple requires it, you have consented. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before renewal.
7.7 Free tier
Free features have limits — for example, on how many focuses or launchers you can keep. We may adjust those limits. If we tighten a limit, we will not delete content you already created; you may simply be unable to add more until you are back under the limit or subscribe to Pro.
8. Acceptable use
Do not:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
- copy, resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the app or any part of it;
- circumvent the Pro entitlement check, tamper with purchase validation, or use LockIn Pro without paying for it;
- attack, overload, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our backend, or send it automated, forged, or abusive traffic;
- submit unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or deliberately false content through the issue reporter;
- use LockIn to restrict another person's device without their knowledge and consent, or in any way intended to coerce, monitor, or harm someone;
- use LockIn in violation of any applicable law, or of Apple's App Store Terms of Service.
We may block access to our backend, or terminate your licence under Section 16, if you do any of these.
9. Availability and changes
We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, and we may update the app to keep it working with new versions of iOS or with third-party services. We aim to keep our backend running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability; the backend supports the issue reporter and the daily quote, and the app's core features keep working without it.
We may release experimental or beta features. Those are provided as-is, may behave unpredictably, and may be withdrawn without notice.
We do not guarantee that LockIn will remain compatible with future versions of iOS or with any particular device.
10. Feedback and issue reports
If you submit a launcher issue report, feature request, or other feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it to operate and improve LockIn, without compensation or attribution. Do not include anything confidential or personal in a free-text note. Section 6.1 of the Privacy Policy describes what a report contains.
11. Third-party services
LockIn depends on Apple (App Store, Screen Time, WeatherKit, iCloud, push notifications) and on third-party providers for cloud hosting, analytics, and subscription validation, and it displays quotes sourced from a third-party quotes service. Section 15 of the Privacy Policy lists those categories, and we will identify the specific company behind any of them on request. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or conduct.
LockIn opens other apps using URL schemes published by their developers. Those schemes are undocumented and change without warning. We are not responsible for the content, behaviour, or availability of any app LockIn opens, and a launcher that stops working is not a defect in LockIn.
Quotes are third-party content provided for general interest. We do not endorse them and do not verify their attribution.
12. Intellectual property
LockIn, including its source code, design, name, logo, and app icons, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use one copy of the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LockIn is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that LockIn will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that any block will apply, hold, or release as intended; that scheduled sessions or notifications will fire on time or at all; that your data will not be lost; or that the app will improve your productivity or change your habits.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and you may have rights that these Terms cannot remove.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost opportunities, lost data, missed deadlines, missed calls or messages, or reputational harm — including any loss arising from an app being blocked when you needed it, or from an app failing to be blocked when you expected it to be.
- Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to LockIn is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for LockIn in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
These limits apply regardless of the legal theory, and even if we were told a particular loss was possible.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or under non-waivable consumer protection law.
15. Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of LockIn, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
16. Termination
You may end this agreement at any time by deleting the app.
We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms, or if we are required to by law or by Apple. We may also discontinue LockIn entirely, in which case we will give reasonable notice in the app where practical.
Termination does not entitle you to a refund except where required by law or granted by Apple. Sections 5, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 18 survive termination.
17. Terms required by Apple
These provisions are included because LockIn is distributed through the App Store. Where they conflict with anything else in these Terms, they prevail as between you and Apple.
- These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. We alone are responsible for LockIn and its content.
- Your licence is limited to using LockIn on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, including through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where applicable.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for LockIn.
- If LockIn fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever, and any other claim, loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty is our responsibility alone.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to LockIn or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that LockIn fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any third-party claim that LockIn or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
- Contact information for questions, complaints, and support is in Section 20. Apple has no obligation to furnish support or maintenance services with respect to LockIn.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or to LockIn.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts and to the protection of your local mandatory consumer law, that right is unaffected by this section.

to litigate.
19. General
Changes. We may update these Terms. We will move the "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use LockIn afterwards means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app.
Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable, or severed, and the rest stays in force.
No waiver. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding LockIn, and supersede any prior understanding.
Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience; the English version governs.
