What is LockIn?
LockIn is a free app blocker and focus timer for iPhone. It does two things: it replaces your home screen's grid of icons with a plain text launcher, and it blocks the apps you pick for the length of a focus session. Blocking runs on Apple's own Screen Time (Family Controls) framework, so it holds across Spotlight, Safari and notifications rather than just hiding an icon.
Does LockIn see what I get up to in my apps?
No. Blocking runs on Apple's own Screen Time (Family Controls) framework, so your picks and your usage never leave the phone. iOS hands LockIn opaque tokens instead of app names — it can't see which apps you chose, let alone what you do in them. There's no account, no ad SDK and nothing sold.
Can I get around a block if I really want to?
Not on impulse. Ending a Strict Mode session early means writing down why you're quitting, typing the unlock phrase out by hand, and holding a button for five seconds. Force quitting LockIn lifts nothing, and deleting the app mid-session doesn't end the block either.
How is this different from Screen Time's own app limits?
Screen Time limits are one tap away from a fifteen-minute extension, which is why most people stop noticing them. LockIn uses the same blocking engine but puts real friction on the exit, and it changes the screen you unlock into — a text list instead of an icon grid — so the reach for a distracting app never starts.
